We are situated directly on the south Cumbria and north Lancashire county borders, mid way between Kendal and Lancaster. The coast is only three miles away at both Arnside and Silverdale. From our doorstep there are wonderful opportunities for both walking and cycling. We are located on the National Cycle Network and there are opportunities for off-road mountain biking. Fishing, horse riding and golf are also near by.
Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve and Gait Barrows National Nature Reserve (which was originally part of Brackenthwaite Farm) are within two miles.
The area has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) due, in part, to the large areas of limestone pavement, limestone walls, local historic lime kilns and diverse flora and fauna.
In addition to the immediate attractions, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, the Forest of Bowland AONB and Morecambe Bay are all easily accessible.
There are several places to eat out in the immediate area and the nearest pubs are two miles away at Beetham and Hale.
